Welcome to Neighbors of Mercy
In the book of Leviticus, God is quoted as saying to Moses, “When a foreigner resides among you in our land, do not mistreat them. The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the Lord your God,” (Lev. 19: 33-34, NIV).
In the spirit of caring for our neighbors as Christ teaches us in the Parable of the Good Samaritan in Luke 10, we will be officially launching our newest ministry: Neighbors of Mercy. Neighbors of Mercy will be a ministry directed to helping people who are immigrants and refugees who have come to live among us in Hilliard and the greater Columbus area. As a part of this process, RELC and Neighbors of Mercy will partner with area non-governmental organizations such as Columbus Refugee and Immigration Services, also known as CRIS.
We are off to the races with our newest ministry, Neighbors of Mercy!
Speaking of races, Community Refugee and Immigration Services (CRIS), our partner for Neighbors of Mercy, is hosting its annual 5K+ community event on Saturday, October 4th, at Genoa Park in
downtown Columbus. The race begins at 10:00 a.m., and participants can run, jog, or walk the 3.1-mile course.
If you want to join the team we’re forming, please see Vicar Keith, who will be briskly walking this course. You can also visit our team page at https://runsignup.com/neighborsofmercyrelc.
This is CRIS’s largest fundraiser of the year, enabling them to support refugees and immigrants in our community. Neighbors of Mercy is forming a team for this event! We’ve set an ambitious goal to raise $1000 to support CRIS. If you’d like to help and make a donation, please visit our team page at https://runsignup.com/neighborsofmercyrelc. You can also support your favorite Vicar by donating through his individual page https://runsignup.com/vicarkeithmonroe. Alternatively, you could
sponsor a family member, friend, or someone in your congregation. Maybe a friendly competition will
develop! Stay tuned! All funds raised will go directly to CRIS.
